Since its launch in 2011, the NADELWELT has gained an excellent reputation far beyond the borders of Germany. It belongs to the most important events of its kind and is the biggest sole craft fair in Germany. One of its highlights is the presentation of international guests such as Noriko Endo, Kaffe Fasset and Brandon Mabley, Jette Clover and Paula Nadelstern. They show their works and usually also offer a course program.
The NADELWELT Karlsruhe is organised by the European market leader in the field of patchwork magazines. All other information can be found in the sections of our website.

German Quilt Artist Annette Bamberger furnishes Chapel St. Clare with her Quilts
The German quilt artist Annette Bamberger, whose latest works will be shown at the NADELWELT Karlsruhe 2016, furnished the chapel of the retirement home St. Franaziskus in Karlsruhe with 6 quilts of Christian and biblical imagery. They show the Holy Trinity Father, Son and Holy Ghost as well as Saint Mary, Saint Francis and Saint Claire. Theres no figurativeness but a symbolic use of forms in her elaborated free motion quilting and the modest coloration only uses a few intense colours. The quilts can be visited at the chapel. On 10th June 2016 at 7.30 p.m. the artist herself will talk about her works at the chapel. Free admission, donations are welcome.
Adress: Caritas-Seniorenzentrum St. Franziskus, Steinhäuserstr. 19c, 76137 Karlsruhe

After the fair is before the fair!
There is much truth in this old football saying. Preparations for the NADELWELT 2016 are already running and the standard is high: 13,000 visitors were flocking to the Karlsruhe fair and enjoyed the many colours and inspirations of the NADELWELT.
Right behind the entrance, they were welcomed by more than 20 high-class exhibitions featuring all kinds of different traditional and experimental styles. There were clusters of people in front of quite a number of items, discussing colours, composition and the message of the beautiful artworks. Lucky – though intentional – that the artists were present as well to answer questions and be part of the discussions. Where else do you get a chance like this?
Thus motivated, the visitors moved on to the shopping hall, where they had the chance to get supplies and even more ideas at a total of 185 booths, meet exhibitors from 13 different countries and get a general view of the newest materials and trends in the needlework universe. They went through the looking glass into a world of new fabrics, new models of sewing machines, of buttons, yarn, braids, books and magazines – just everything a quilter, knitter, cotton spinner or another crafting person could wish for. And again: conversations, consultation and advice, exchange and inspiration. Every visitor looking for even more entertainment could join one of the workshops that could be found in various places in the shopping hall.
All those, who wanted to go even deeper, had already booked the seminar of their choice before the fair. On a separate conference floor, they had the possibility to work most concentrated and intensive on their own art, accompanied by the individual advice of their international workshop leaders.
It was nice seeing all the happy faces of the many people interested in needlework. We're giving it our best to mount an interesting and inspiring event again in 2016. So we have already started...
