NADELWELT continues to grow
Review NADELWELT Karlsruhe 2024

From 03 to 05 May, it was that time again: for the thirteenth time now, the major event NADELWELT attracted numerous needlework enthusiasts from near and far to Karlsruhe.

More than 10,500 visitors made their way to Karlsruhe to take time out for their personal hobby. Sewing, patchwork, embroidery, knitting, cross-stitch, crochet, felting, spinning - the world of handicrafts is colourful and diverse, it is impossible to list everything. As different as the individual techniques are, the great common thread is the creative occupation with something very tangible: with fabric, wool, felt, needles, etc. And so trend researchers all agree that the unbroken popularity of handicrafts lies precisely in the conscious move away from the virtual and digital that increasingly characterises our everyday lives. Handicrafts ground us and slow us down; they reconnect us with ourselves.

As usual, there was a lot to discover on around 14,000 square metres: as soon as you entered the entrance area, you were in the middle of a world of colourful fabrics, geometric patterns, free design and incredible expressiveness. In the light-flooded entrance hall, 34 international exhibitions provided an insight into the impressive possibilities of textile art. In the exhibition hall, 133 expert dealers were on hand to introduce visitors to the latest trends and techniques, answer questions and share tips and tricks. The numerous workshops, which invited visitors to spontaneously join in and try things out, were also particularly varied in terms of subject matter.

The Live! Forum, presented for the first time this year, with exciting talks, presentations and tutorials, was all about sharing knowledge and experience. Those who wanted to delve even deeper into a specific topic had the opportunity to do so in one of the 46 bookable courses on the separate conference level, just like under study conditions.

On Sunday afternoon, everyone involved agreed that it was a shame that NADELWELT was already over.
